2011 Regular Legislative Session - Active Bills, Resolutions
By Howard M. O’Cull, Ed.D.,
West Virginia School Board Association Executive Director
The following is a listing of Senate and House education and education-related bills having "active status," meaning each measure has been adopted by their house of origin and referred to the other chamber for consideration.
Also included is a comprehensive listing of Resolutions which the Legislature has the ability to consider prior to adjournment Saturday, March 12, 2011. (The Legislature usually considers Concurrent Resolutions - Resolutions requiring agreement between both houses - on the 58th Day of the Session; Joint Resolutions pertain to placing proposed constitutional amendments before voters. Senate or House Resolutions state an expression of the respective legislative body and do not require concurrence by the other legislative house.)
Thus, this listing does not include the entirety of bills considered by the Senate and House Education Committees - or other committees - as previously reported in various issues of The Legislature.
For ease in reading bills are listed topically rather than the section or sections of Code sought to be amended and reenacted or newly-proposed sections of Code.
Additionally, each listing contains links to the West Virginia Legislature's Website as far as "reference." Thus, refer to http://www.legis.state.wv.us/
Finally, the listing should not be considered exhaustive.
